Understanding Planetary Dignities
Traditional astrology assigns each planet signs where it functions well or with difficulty:
Strong Placements
- Domicile: Planet rules this sign — at home
- Exaltation: Planet is honored — extra power
Challenging Placements
- Detriment: Opposite its domicile — awkward fit
- Fall: Opposite exaltation — struggles to express
Note: "Challenging" doesn't mean "bad." Planets in detriment or fall often develop unique strengths through working harder to express their nature.
