Understanding

An "" is the margin of error allowed for an aspect. Planets don't need to be at exactly 90° to form a — they can be within a few degrees.

Tight orb (0-3°)

Strong, precise expression of the aspect

Medium orb (3-6°)

Clear influence but less intense

Wide orb (6-10°)

Background influence, less conscious

Sun and Moon aspects typically use wider orbs (8-10°); minor aspects use tighter orbs (2-3°).

Aspect Natures

Harmonious

and flow easily. Talent and gifts, but may lack motivation to develop.

Dynamic

and create tension. Challenging but growth-producing.

Neutral

depend on which planets are involved. Can be either harmonious or tense.

Vedic Planetary Sight (Drishti)

Vedic aspects are rule-based, not guesswork. Select a planet to see exactly which houses it sights, then click a house to watch the aspect lines reroute.

Major Aspects (Ptolemaic)

0° • Orb: 8-10°

Neutral
FusionIntensityBeginningUnity

Planets at the same degree merge their energies. The nature depends on which planets are involved — some blend beautifully, others create tension.

180° • Orb: 8-10°

Dynamic
TensionAwarenessProjectionBalance

Planets across the chart from each other create a push-pull dynamic. Often projected onto relationships — we see in others what we struggle to own.

90° • Orb: 6-8°

Dynamic
FrictionChallengeActionGrowth

Planets at right angles create friction that demands action. Squares are uncomfortable but drive achievement — they force you to work through obstacles.

120° • Orb: 6-8°

Harmonious
FlowTalentEaseGifts

Planets in the same element (Fire, Earth, Air, Water) flow together naturally. Trines indicate talents that come easily — sometimes too easily to develop fully.

60° • Orb: 4-6°

Harmonious
OpportunityCooperationPotentialSkill

Planets in compatible elements offer opportunities that require some effort to activate. Less automatic than trines but more consciously developed.

Kendra + Trikona Combinations (Yogas)

When angle lords and trine lords link up, Vedic astrology flags a yoga. Toggle placements to see when those connections light up and which houses they route through.

Aspect Patterns

When multiple planets form interconnected aspects, they create patterns with special meanings. Click each pattern to see its geometry:

Grand Trineharmonious

Three planets 120° apart forming an equilateral triangle. Indicates natural talent and ease in the element involved, but can lead to complacency without challenging aspects.
